As we decide to leave our own country and travel afar, whether one calls us legal or illegal immigrant, whether we are poor or rich, educated or uneducated, there is one thing we all pack in our suitcase; and that is our culture. We take our culture along with our memories and separate from our own country and leave everything behind, in hope of finding a better home and making a better life. I believe through migration one transforms; as if part of us dies and we are reborn into a new person. Story & Song is the true story of Iranian immigrants who left Iran after the Islamic revolution and scattered throughout the world in search of a better future. It is an untold story of transformation; and the price we all paid as an immigrant in order to mix and match. Story & Song is the story of losing and gaining; stories of growth and achievements; stories of who we were, where we came from and who we became as a citizen of the world. Story & Song is my way of celebrating our commonality as a nation of immigrants. |
